What got me into MUNs

Abstract
Here at Delegate Snapshots, we are all bound by our shared passion for knowledge; Model United Nations conferences are one of the ways we get to interact with other like-minded people and forge new, long-lasting friendships.
What are MUNs for you?
For me, MUNs are the perfect blend of having fun and being productive. I find them constantly entertaining and forever thrilling because you never get the same experience twice and you hardly ever get the same outcome you planned before the conference. The fact that you get to debate with people who share your passions and interests and who love history, politics and international relations just as much as you do is still mind-boggling to me.
My online MUN experience helped me understand the format of the conferences, while also providing me with a myriad of new experiences. I met people from across the globe, from Canada to India to the United Kingdom or Peru and discovered that we all share something that is much more important than sharing a nationality, religion or even the same continent -- and that is our will to work for a better future.
My physical MUN experience opened my eyes to the truly amazing Romanian MUN community. Ever since my first live MUN, I’ve made friends from all over the country and I can’t even begin to explain how grateful I am for each and every one of them.
What got you into MUNs?
I’m going to go against the mainstream and say that it was the pandemic that actually helped me discover my passions. It was during June 2020 that I attended my first Model United Nations conference -- I remember that I represented China in a SPECPOL committee on impartiality in elections. I immediately fell in love with the debate format of MUNs and now, a year and a few months later, I still enjoy every conference I get the chance to attend.
Why do you like Political Science and International Relations?
To be honest, I’ve only recently discovered how much I actually like Political Science and International Relations; with it being a constantly evolving and ever-changing field, it keeps me fascinated and I never seem to get bored by it. Every time I debate about politics, write an article or read a news story, it’s like trying to solve a complicated puzzle that only I can see; I have to say, though, the feeling of satisfaction you get after solving it is like nothing you’ve ever felt.
